As early as 1897, the widow Sofie Rasmussen thus started a boardinghouse at the address, and with the beautiful location, the boardinghouse quickly became a sought-after holiday resort. In 1918, Johan Koch took over the boardinghouse, and shortly afterwards he turned the house white. A white house was very atypical in Gudhjem over 100 years ago - as almost all houses were yellow or red - and therefore the guest house was known by the name Casa Blanca, as the resort has now been called for over 100 years. Since then, Casa Blanca has been renovated many times - and most recently in 2023, where the swimming pool area will be completely renovated.
