The house, which was originally a small farm, is located by Gratangsfjellet, a large mountain and wilderness area great for hiking in all types of terrain, including mountain peaks. Great fishing in the fjord and in many lakes and rivers. 7 km to the nearest ski slope with lights, 5 km to Øse with alpine center. In winter, there are ski slopes here. On Storvannet by Øse there are opportunities for Kiting. By Narvik, you will find one of the roughest alpine resorts in Norway. On days and nights with good weather, you can experience the northern lights in the polar sky. Good starting point for day trips by car. 60 km to Harstad/Evenes airport. Visit the North Norwegian Boat Museum in Gratangsbotn with a collection of old boats and fishing gear. During the WW2, Gratangsfjellet was a battlefield, and there are several memorials on the mountain. Narvik and Ofotfjorden were central during WW2 with several naval battles; this can be studied in more detail at the war museum in the city. Also take the trip to Senja, where you can take a car ferry to Andøya and a round trip back to the house.
