Go for mountain hikes with magnificent views of the sea. You can also bike along the old postal road that stretches 40 km between Leirvik and Dale, and has some impressive stone bridges. Go on day excursions to the many sights and attractions nearby. You can go island hopping along the coast. Bergen is about 2,5 hours away by car. The cabin is best suited for a maximum of 4 adults and 2 children up to 12 years old. Hyllestad is rich in nature experiences, from typical coastal areas to more sheltered valleys and heather moors. The coast and fjord at Hyllestad offer sea fishing. Fishing in the fjord is best in spring and autumn, but there is fish most of the year. There are also many good opportunities for fishing in freshwater and rivers, like in Espelandsvannet or in the river Lona, about 6 km away. In Hyllestad, there has been a large industry of millstone production, with exports dating back to the Viking Age. The majestic mountain Lihesten is an Eldorado for happy hikers and climbers. From the top (710 masl) there are views of the sea and the hinterland, there are also a variety of marked hiking trails in the area. The Trondheim postal route went through the municipality, and there are still impressive stone bridges left along the 40 km long stretch between Leirvik and Dale. A walk along the old post road can be done either on foot or by bicycle. Leirvik is a good starting point for day trips to attractions and activities by the Sognefjord and in Sunnfjord. An island-hopping trip along the coast with the mail boat from Solund is recommended. Bergen is a 2.5-hour drive away. It takes about 8 minutes by car to Hyllestad, and here it is possible to refuel the boat at a gas station with a card machine.
