On Langøya's north side, there are several fishing villages like Nyksund, formerly Vesterålen's largest fishing village. The old wharves have been renovated and now contain a restaurant. At Andenes, you can take a boat to sea and experience the large whales up close. From Andenes, there is a car ferry to Gryllefjord on Senja and offers the possibility of a round trip by car. 35 km to the coastal town of Sortland with shops and restaurants.
