This is a lovely 2-bedroom holiday home with a thatched roof in Steendam. Located on a quiet holiday park, it is right next to Schild lake and is ideal for those planning a vacation for recreational purposes.

Through the lake, you can go to Appingedam, Groningen and the Wadden. You can also use a Canadian canoe for a small fee. You can hire a boat in the adjacent yachting harbour. There's a restaurant 100m away and a supermarket 3 km from here. Golf lovers will find a golf course 1 km away.

The home has its own mooring with swimming steps and a garden shower. There are two lovely terraces where you can relax and have a lovely barbecue. There is a sauna you can use for â‚¬10/stay. You're allowed to bring 2 pets for â‚¬6.50/pet/night and please let your pets sleep downstairs.

The train station is 5 km away. Groningen Airport Eelde is 36 km away.

Inside there is a infrared sauna and it is remarkable that in the winter months it is a lovely warm house because there is central heating in every room (including the toilet).

It is fully equipped and maintained with great care, also there is both in the refrigerator and in the closet a basic stock to find, this is all offered by the House Owner.

You will receive a nice welcome gift upon arrival.

Very nice house with terrace on the water with evening sun. The cottage is very fully equipped. Everything was very neat and we are very well received. Highly recommended to visit the province of Groningen.

We spent a week at New Year's Eve in the really beautiful Villa ten Hoeve and felt very comfortable despite the storm. Such a beautiful house, well equipped. It was wonderfully comfortable! Also our little daughter (2 years) enjoyed the holiday house very much. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful quiet location right on the water, the beautiful walks on Schildmeer, the nice Verwalterehepaar and also the ideal location for a day trip to Groningen to make - this is always worth a visit. We can also recommend the Seehundaufzuchtsstation in Pieterburen. The only drawback are the slightly wobbly beds, the mattresses on the racks are loose and unfortunately slip. Especially if you have to accommodate children's visit in the middle.

We particularly enjoyed our stay from 11 to 18 June 2021 in the very comfortable Villa ten Hoeve in Steendam. We were kindly received by Jan and Ine in the villa on the Schildmeer with a beautiful garden around it. Despite the fact that the stay was canceled in the morning due to a misunderstanding at Belvilla, thanks to the efforts of Jan and Ine, it has become a wonderful week with beautiful weather. We have made beautiful trips through the province, Bourtange, Noordpolderzijl, Lauersoog and Appingedam in a very relaxed omgeving.Our walk around the Schildmeer with our Labrador Teuntje was a real challenge.

We could pick up the key from the manager, neighbors. The manager gave an extensive tour of the house, explained everything well. We could always contact them if there were questions about something or if something did not work. House in itself good and comfortable. We imagined the view of the lake a little more and better. You can only see the lake from a certain point on the terrace and from the garden. The cottage is unfortunately located on a busy road, a connecting road between Appingedam and Siddeburen. It is a pity that this is not clearly visible in the pictures. In addition, there is a fitness studio nearby that gave his training outside. The coaching could be heard in through closed windows. Had we known this, our choice would not have been this holiday home. road and the fitness center we, peace and quiet seekers experienced as very disturbing! The surroundings are beautiful.Within an hour away there are interesting, cultural, historical places to see such as fortified towns Bourtange and Oude Schans, Museum Slag bij Heiligerlee, Klooster ter Apel In the immediate vicinity you can make beautiful cycling trips via cycling junctions such as Rondje Schildmeer, in the Roegwold, Delfzijl to Eemshaven.

Lovingly and completely equipped house (of the insect netting on all windows on the various kitchen equipment to the high-quality sound system). From the terrace "is s -if you mag- directly into the canoe and then get out on the lake and in the small channels. Well-stocked supermarkets and bakeries in the two neighboring towns (5km and 8km). Nice restaurant (with live music folk / Blues etc. every Friday) just around the corner (100m). We had between the years a Quiet stay in this really beautiful house. It is very tastefully done, you feel immediately comfortable, "at home"! With child and dog we could relax as gorgeous and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. A great holiday. We are coming back!

Tip from the houseowner

What can you experience in Groningen? Water sports like: sailing, canoeing, fishing, swimming, surfing, water skiing, touring with a motorboat. You can also leave the Schildmeer (300ha) by boat and sail (thru Delfzijl) to the Wadden Sea. The Schildmeer is surrounded by nature. There is a variety of birds to watch. Because the house is facing west, you can enjoy splendid sunsets! Groningen has many foot- or bike-paths: along quiet roads and thru quiet nature. Travelling by bike, you can also experience the pretty little villages and enjoy the sometimes very old churches. Along the route you will see many beautiful open gardens. At the lake, near the house, is a pleasant sandy beach that is safe for children. A golf course is nearby. Horseback riding is also one of the options. Also you can take a walk along (or even around) the lake ( 2,5 hrs) or thru the Damsterbos. In Villa ten Hoeve you will find 2 large volumes, containing many tourist tips, car rides along beautiful sights in Groningen and also addresses of restaurants and museums. If you want to travel a little bit further away, you can go to the Bourtange fortified town, the Seal Centre Pieterburen, the Sea aquarium or in Delfzijl or a day trip to the beautiful German island â€˜Borkumâ€™. A 20 minutes drive brings you to the capital city of Groningen: "Student City" and "the Cultural Capital of the North '. There you will find in only 1 square kilometer around the Great Market: Saturday: market, terraces, beautiful shops, many restaurants, parking garages, art galleries and beautiful Groninger Museum; an architectural masterpiece! Close to the holidayhome there is a new restaurant. It is open the all day for coffee, lunch and diner. The restaurant is called 'Podium Cafe Peter en leni'. They have live-music every friday evening.
