There are shops and a supermarket in the town of Söderåkra. The beach is only three kilometres away and features a bathing dock. Söderåkra is only 37 kilometres south of Kalmar and Kalmarsund, where you can cross the bridge and visit the charming island of Öland. At a farther distance, you will find Vimmerby and Astrid Lindgren's World. Katthult and Bullerbyn, well known from Astrid Lindgren's beloved children's books, are close to Vimmerby. Or why not take a daytrip to Mariannelund and find out how sweets were made in the olden days? The Kingdom of Crystal is another interesting destination. This is where the famous Kosta Boda glass is made. Västervik is also well worth a visit, offering shopping, beaches and many events.
