The island has been inhabited since the Stone Age, but today mostly summer residents live here. Here are chieftains' graves and burial mounds from the Bronze Age for those interested in history. The island does not have a shop, but there is, however, a very good fish shop & restaurant Bryggvingen, approx. 2.5 km away. Don't miss a visit here! They have their own fishing boat that lands their catch below the restaurant, so it couldn't be fresher. The island is to some extent a nature reserve and a lovely island to walk or cycle on. If you get tired of your own jetty, there are good bathing opportunities in several places, both beach bathing and cliff bathing. On the island you can also play mini golf, the course is only 400 m from your house. Around Lyrön there are also fantastic waters for kayaking. A few kilometers away are the three charming archipelago communities Hälleviksstrand, Mollösund and Nösund. In Hälleviksstrand, you should not miss a visit to Sjöbodscafét, which serves delicious sandwiches and pastries in a fantastic environment, in the middle of piers and boats. In Mollösund there are several good restaurants, cobbled streets with beautiful old houses and also a grocery store. Nösund has two fine bathing areas and the historic Nösund Inn with a good restaurant and entertainment by famous artists. Welcome to this wonderful place, a fantastic stylish house with tasteful interior which is newly built with all comforts. All this together with a large terrace, swimming in the sea with several places to eat where you like to spend the day and enjoy the sunsets. The house welcomes you warmly with its open floor plan and incredible sea views and is very light and airy with large windows. You look out over Gullmarsfjorden where you can easily go for a swim. The owners have chosen to keep and try to recreate the house as it was to preserve the feel of the house. You have a large, lovely garden and plenty of opportunities to enjoy Småland's lovely nature right outside the house. For those who like swimming, there is a lake about 2.5 km away with a nice swimming area with a jetty. The rent also includes 4 bicycles, 3 adult bicycles and a children's bicycle, which can be advantageously used to explore the local area or perhaps cycle to the lake? The cabin has plenty of room for a slightly larger family as the cabin has 4 beds plus a junior bed and a cot. The bedrooms are on the second floor, divided into two rooms. The cottage is located in a quiet summer house area on a large flat plot where the main house and guest house are connected by a terrace. In the guest house there are four beds, a bunk bed and a sofa bed. In the main house you have two more bedrooms where one of the rooms has a double bed and the other room a bunk bed. The kitchen and living room have an open-plan layout with a dining area and a comfortable TV sofa. The bathroom is equipped with a washing machine and has a toilet, sink and a tiled shower. The natural place to enjoy a warm summer evening will be on the terrace, there is an awning to roll out should the rain come or if the sun gets too strong. In Gamleby 10 km away there are restaurants, shops, flea markets, bathing area Hammarsbadet and the mountain Garpedansberget with its well-visited troll park. Popular archipelago communities such as Valdemarsvik, Loftahammar and Västervik lie like a string of pearls. Don't miss the summer town of Västervik with its picturesque town centre, its restaurants, and many summertime events. There is also an adventure pool at Lysingsbadet. Popular Loftahammar with boaters, restaurants, cafes and cooling baths by beaches and cliffs. Tour boats depart for the archipelago from both Loftahammar and Västervik. There are shuttle boats with Blekingetrafiken to Karlskrona and some of the other islands. If you want to cycle, you can also bring a bicycle. There are two nice nature reserves with hiking trails. Cycle paths are marked with signs around the island. At Andrén's bakery you can buy the morning bread. At Sturkö Kvarn there is a café, ice cream and an exhibition of various artists. Kristina's garden café also has a flea market. The southern part of the island is undeveloped and fine sandy beaches hide in the coves. The beach in Stensvik is recommended. Sanda is one of the island's villages with a small fishing port overlooking Karlskrona town. South of Sanda there is a bridge connection to Tjurkö and the larger fishing harbor Ekenabben.
