One of the true gems in the area is Limsjön — a shallow, nutrient-rich bird lake near Leksand’s center, with a walking trail of approximately 7 kilometres that circles the lake. The path is gravel and for the most part easy to walk—even with a stroller—and along the way there are several bird towers and a bird-hide where you can observe birdlife up close. It is one of the most bird-rich wetland areas in the county — over 200 species have been recorded at Limsjön, depending on the season you may see everything from common waterbirds to more rare species, and flora such as the fragrant marsh orchid blossoms here in late summer. The hike around the lake is not only exercise, but an opportunity to hear birdsong, experience nature, and pause to take in the details — perhaps walking slowly past a bird tower at dawn or pausing at a hide for a quiet moment. The house has many windows with a view of the pleasant mountain plot. If you go down the path from the house there is access to a sauna and outdoor shower. On the balcony by the kitchen there is an outdoor kitchen with a grill and seating for nice dinners. Just 300 meters from the house is the Baltic Sea, you can see a glimpse of the water from the house. On soft forest paths you go down and take a dip from the rocks, if you want a sandy beach it is 500 meters in the other direction. There are nice nature trails in the area for walks. There is a grocery store, restaurants and a bus to Stockholm in Stavsnäs, where you can also take the archipelago boats further out into the archipelago or into Stockholm.

Halmstad city centre is only a short drive or bus ride away. In the area, you'll find a summer restaurant, an ice cream café, and the famous Japanese mini-golf course. There are also wonderful walking and cycling paths nearby. South along the coast, you'll reach the Hagön Nature Reserve with its scenic heathland and coastal forest. The ground floor of the cottage has an open-plan kitchen and living room with a modern TV, Chromecast, and Wi-Fi. A small bedroom with a separate entrance from outside has a family bunk bed. Adelsö has a lot to discover, from Hovgården there is a boat to Birka, with interesting Viking finds. If you like hiking, there are many nice hiking tours on the island. There are old burial mounds and rune stones on the island. You can get to the island by free car ferry that runs a shuttle service during the summer months. There is a small grocery store at the ferry, if you want a larger store there is one in Ekerö center, where there is also a gas station and a system company. There is a bus to Stockholm, so you don't need to take the car, but there is also a large shuttle parking lot at Ekerö center, from there you can take a boat into central Stockholm, a nice boat trip.
